Know God

Jesus tells us to learn of Him.   Jesus knows us just as we know him.  When we follow Jesus, He gives us eternal life.  We know that we know Him because we keep His commandments.  Jesus established a new covenant whereby he writes His laws in our minds and hearts; for all shall know Him.  As we grow in the Lord we see more clearly.  Paul calls the Corinthian Congregation to be a pure virgin, uncorrupted by the teachings of men.  Under the new covenant, the righteous are betrothed to God forever and they will know the Lord.

Mat 11:27-29 RV

(27)  All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.

(28)  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

(29)  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Jesus tells us to learn of Him.

Joh 10:11-15 RV

(11)  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.

(12)  He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth them:

(13)  he fleeth because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

(14)  I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,

(15)  even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Jesus knows us just as we know him.

Joh 10:26-29 RV

(26)  But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.

(27)  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

(28)  and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.

(29)  My Father, which hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

When we follow Jesus, He gives us eternal life.

1Jn 2:3-5 RV

(3)  And hereby know we that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

(4)  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him:

(5)  but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby know we that we are in him:

We know that we know Him because we keep His commandments.

Heb 8:8-12 RV

(8)  For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

(9)  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt; For they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

(10)  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, And on their heart also will I write them: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people:

(11)  And they shall not teach every man his fellow-citizen, And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: For all shall know me, From the least to the greatest of them.

Jesus established a new covenant whereby he writes His laws in our minds and hearts.  For all shall know Him.

(12)  For I will be merciful to their iniquities, And their sins will I remember no more.

Jer 31:31-35 ASV

(31)  Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

(32)  not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah.

(33)  But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

(34)  And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

(35)  Thus saith Jehovah, who giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirreth up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar; Jehovah of hosts is his name:

1Co 13:11-12 ASV

(11)  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things.

(12)  For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known.

As we grow in the Lord we see more clearly.

2Co 11:1-3 RV

(1)  Would that ye could bear with me in a little foolishness: nay indeed bear with me.

(2)  For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

(3)  But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ.

Paul calls the Corinthian Congregation to be a pure virgin, uncorrupted by the teachings of men.

Hos 2:18-23 RV

(18)  And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them to lie down safely.

(19)  And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

(20)  I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

(21)  And it shall come to pass in that day, I will answer, saith the LORD, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth;

(22)  and the earth shall answer the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall answer Jezreel.

(23)  And I wilt sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

Under the new covenant, the righteous are betrothed to God forever and they will know the Lord.
