Still Water

Still Water

Often we hear the voice of the Lord as a still small voice.  To see Him more clearly, we must still ourselves before Him.  We can adorn ourselves unto God with a meek and quiet spirit.  We cultivate a quiet spirit even as we work and do peacefully what our hands find to do.  We stand in awe, still and silent at the presence of the Lord.

The presence of the Lord is a mystery to the world.  We can abide always in His presence which is hidden from the sons of men.  Darkness here means hidden or secret, he will show us His treasures that are hidden from the world.  Still waters are where the Lord gives us His peace and quiet.  The deep things in our heart calls out to the deep things of God.  The waterspouts here are a reference to the Holy Spirit that wells up from our hearts as we share the treasures of the Lord.

Stir up the spirit within you to shed forth the love and blessings of the Spirit unto the saints of God.

1Ki 19:11-12 RV

(11)  And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

(12)  and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Often we hear the voice of the Lord as a still small voice.

Psa 46:10 RV  Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

To see Him more clearly, we must still ourselves before Him.

(2)  beholding your chaste behaviour coupled with fear.

(3)  Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;

(4)  but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

We can adorn ourselves unto God with a meek and quiet spirit.

1Th 4:9-12 RV

(9)  But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;

(10)  for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;

(11)  and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;

(12)  that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.

We cultivate a quiet spirit even as we work and do peacefully what our hands find to do.

Psa 4:4 RV  Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah

Hab 2:20 RV  But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

Zep 1:7 RV  Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath sanctified his guests.

We stand in awe, still and silent at the presence of the Lord.

Psa 31:19-20 KJV

(19)  Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

(20)  Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

The presence of the Lord is a mystery to the world.  We can abide always in His presence which is hidden from the sons of men.

Psa 91:1 KJV  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Isa 45:3 KJV  And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

Darkness here means hidden or secret, he will show us His treasures that are hidden from the world.

Psa 23:1-3 KJV

(1)  A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

(3)  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Still waters are where the Lord gives us His peace and quiet.

Psa 42:7 KJV  Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

The deep things in our heart calls out to the deep things of God.  The waterspouts here are a reference to the Holy Spirit that wells up from our hearts as we share the treasures of the Lord.

Gen 1:2 CLV  As for the earth, it came to be a chaos and vacant, and darkness was over the surface of the abyss.  And the spirit of Elohim was vibrating over the surface of the waters.

Joh 7:37-39 RV

(37)  Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

(38)  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

(39)  But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believed on him were to receive: for the Spirit was not yet given; because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Stir up the spirit within you to shed forth the love and blessings of the Spirit unto the saints of God.
