Buy the Truth

Buy the Truth

It takes time and effort to buy the truth as we seek to know Christ and His gospel.  Spiritually, to buy the gospel we need to abandon the erroneous beliefs we held before.  In the early church, the foolish virgins represent those Jews who did not accept the gospel.  The wise virgins accepted the whole gospel,  The Lord will bless those who sell or teach His gospel.  We buy the truth with our time, effort and wholehearted belief.  The truth cannot be purchase with money.

Pro 23:23 RV  Buy the truth, and sell it not; yea, wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

It takes time and effort to buy the truth as we seek to know Christ and His gospel.

Mat 13:44-46 RV

(44)  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

(45)  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a merchant seeking goodly pearls:

(46)  and having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

These parables have both natural and spiritual applications.  Spiritually, to buy the gospel we need to abandon the erroneous beliefs we held before.

Mat 25:1-13 RV

(1)  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

(2)  And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

(3)  For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them:

(4)  but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

(5)  Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

(6)  But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him.

(7)  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

(8)  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out.

(9)  But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

(10)  And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.

(11)  Afterward come also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

(12)  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

(13)  Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.

In the early church, the foolish virgins represent those Jews who did not accept the gospel.  They had lamps, the law and the prophets, but that light was going out because the new covenant replaced it..  The wise virgins accepted the whole gospel, Their light did not go out and they moved on to a new day.  The parables have a reflection in our day where the foolish virgins trust in manmade doctrines and organizations rather than Christ’s true gospel.

Pro 11:26 RV  He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

The Lord will bless those who sell or teach His gospel.

Isa 55:1-3 RV

(1)  Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

(2)  Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

(3)  Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Rev 3:14-22 RV

(14)  And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:

(15)  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

(16)  So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

(17)  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched one and miserable and poor and blind and naked:

(18)  I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and that the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.

(19)  As many as I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

(20)  Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

(21)  He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

(22)  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

Gold tried in the fire represents the truth of the word of God that has been proved on the threshing floor.

Rev 13:15-17 RV

(15)  And it was given unto him to give breath to it, even to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as should not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

(16)  And he causeth all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bond, that there be given them a mark on their right hand, or upon their forehead;

(17)  and that no man should be able to buy or to sell, save he that hath the mark, even the name of the beast or the number of his name.

In the Bible, buying and selling is talking about truth, wisdom and understanding.  The beast wants us to believe and teach His false doctrine, the mark in the forehead.  No-one is allowed to buy or sell the truth, that is teach or learn the true gospel in that man-made beast system that is the religious world today.
