Fear God

The fear of the Lord is an exalting combination of fear and reverence that Lord desires from us.  It helps to mature us and bring us to perfection (maturity).  When we fear the Lord, we need not fear anything else.  Do not fear men who can only kill us, but rather fear Him (the Lord) who can destroy us utterly.  Without the fear of the Lord, we cannot even begin to understand Him. 

The Lord instructs and guides those that fear Him.  When we trust and fear the Lord, He hides us in the secret of His presence.  The Lord gives His blessings and mercy to those that fear Him in all generations.  The Lord calls Job perfect and upright because he feared the Lord and eschewed evil.  Cornelius’ fear and devotion was enough to qualify him as the first gentile to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, him and all his house.  In every nation there are those that fear God.and work righteousness.  Let us endeavor to do the same.

Jos 24:13-14 RV

(13)  And I gave you a land whereon thou hadst not laboured, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell therein; of vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

(14)  Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

Isa 8:11-14 RV

When we fear the Lord, we need not fear anything else.

Mat 10:25-28 RV

(25)  It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household!

Do not fear men who can only kill us, but rather fear Him (the Lord) who can destroy us utterly.

Pro 1:7 RV  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Without the fear of the Lord, we cannot even begin to understand Him. 

Psa 25:12-14 RV

(12)  What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he instruct in the way that he shall choose.

(13)  His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the land.

(14)  The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

The Lord instructs and guides those that fear Him.

Psa 31:19-20 YLT

(19)  How abundant is Thy goodness, That Thou hast laid up for those fearing Thee,

(20)  Thou hast wrought for those trusting in Thee, Before sons of men. Thou hidest them in the secret place of Thy presence, From artifices of man, Thou concealest them in a tabernacle, From the strife of tongues.

When we trust and fear the Lord, He hides us in the secret of His presence. 

Isa 50:9-11 RV

(9)  Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? behold, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

(10)  Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant? he that walketh in darkness, and hath no light, let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.

(11)  Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that gird yourselves about with firebrands: walk ye in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

Luk 1:49-50 RV

(49)  For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.

(50)  And his mercy is unto generations and generations On them that fear him.

The Lord gives His blessings and mercy to those that fear Him in all generations. 

Job 1:8 RV  And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an uptight man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil.

The Lord calls Job perfect and upright because he feared the Lord and eschewed evil. 

Act 10:1-2 RV

(1)  Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

(2)  a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

Cornelius’ fear and devotion was enough to qualify him as the first gentile to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, him and all his house.

Act 10:34-35 RV

(34)  And Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

(35)  but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.

In every nation there are those that fear God.and work righteousness.  Let us endeavor to do the same.
