Jesus’ redemptive work not only forgives our sin, it makes it possible for us to end sin altogether. When we receive Jesus into our lives, it does not make us children of God. But it gives us the right and authority to become one of God’s children. As we seek the Lord and learn to know and obey Him, He transforms us gradually into an image of Him. The living seed of the word of God births a new spiritual life within us that is incorruptible and pure.
When we abide in Christ He purifies us and give us His righteousness through our faith. The evil one that we must overcome is that old man in our own hearts, that is the carnal mind or fleshly nature.
Dan 9:23-24 RV
(23) At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment went forth, and I am come to tell thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision.
