Exercise unto Godliness

Exercise Unto Godliness

Exercise yourself unto godliness which is profitable now and in the world to come.  The Lord exercises us with chastening which produces the fruit of righteousness.  We must exercise our spiritual senses to discern good and evil.  We are God’s workmen, giving diligence to handle rightly the word of truth.

The Jews of Berea were more noble, with readiness of mind they examined the scriptures daily.  We work to fully accomplish our salvation, as the Spirit works within us to will and do His good pleasure.  We labor for Him, admonishing and teaching everyone that we may present them perfect in Christ.

1Ti 4:7-8 RV

(7)  but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:

(8)  for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.

Exercise yourself unto godliness which is profitable now and in the world to come.

Heb 12:9-11 ASV

(9)  Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

(10)  For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.

(11)  All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.

The Lord exercises us with chastening which produces the fruit of righteousness.

Heb 5:12-14 ASV

(12)  For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.

(13)  For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe.

(14)  But solid food is for fullgrown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.

We must exercise our spiritual senses to discern good and evil.

2Ti 2:14-15 RV

(14)  Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they strive not about words, to no profit, to the subverting of them that hear.

(15)  Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.

We are God’s workmen, giving diligence to handle rightly the word of truth

Act 17:10-11 RV

(10)  And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Beroea: who when they were come thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

(11)  Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, examining the scriptures daily, whether these things were so.

The Jews of Berea were more noble, with readiness of mind they examined the scriptures daily.

Php 2:12-13 RV

(12)  So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

(13)  for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

Work out;  G2716

Katergazomai;   kat-er-gad’-zom-ahee

From G2596 and G2038; to work fully, that is, accomplish; by implication to finish, fashion: – cause, do (deed), perform, work (out).

Col 1:24-29 RV

(24)  Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church;

(25)  whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfill the word of God,

(26)  even the mystery which hath been hid from all ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,

(27)  to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

(28)  whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;

(29)  whereunto I labour also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

We labor for Him, admonishing and teaching everyone that we may present them perfect in Christ.
