Inner Man

Inner Man

Our inward man delights in the law of God.  We pray that Christ strengthens our inner man through the faith, knowledge and love of God.  Our old man was crucified with Christ, let us now walk in newness of life.  The death of the old man frees us from the law and Jesus’ faith enables us to live unto God.

We have put off the old man with his anger, malice and shameful words and put on the new man who is renewed in the image and knowledge of Christ.  Though he is crucified our old man still lusts after the world, put him off and put on the new man and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

We face death daily as our outward man, this physical flesh decays and is dying day by day but our inward man is renewed daily with that water of life welling up from our hearts that brings life eternal.

Rom 7:18-23 RV  For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not.  (19)  For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise.  (20)  But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.  (21)  I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present.  (22)  For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:  (23)  but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.

Our inward man delights in the law of God.

Eph 3:14-21 RV  For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father,  (15)  from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,  (16)  that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;  (17)  that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  (18)  may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  (19)  and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.  (20)  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  (21)  unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen.

We pray that Christ strengthens our inner man through the faith, knowledge and love of God.

Rom 6:4-7 RV  We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.  (5)  For if we have become united with him by the likeness of his death, we shall be also by the likeness of his resurrection;  (6)  knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;  (7)  for he that hath died is justified from sin.

Our old man was crucified with Christ, let us now walk in newness of life.

Gal 2:19-20 RV  For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God.  (20)  I have been crucified with Christ; yet I live; and yet no longer I, but Christ liveth in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

The death of the old man frees us from the law and Jesus’ faith enables us to live unto God.

Col 3:8-11 RV  But now put ye also away all these; anger, wrath, malice, railing, shameful speaking out of your mouth:  (9)  lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings,  (10)  and have put on the new man, which is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him:  (11)  where there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman: but Christ is all, and in all.

We have put off the old man with his anger, malice and shameful words and put on the new man who is renewed in the image and knowledge of Christ.

Eph 4:21-24 RV  if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:  (22)  that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, which waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;  (23)  and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,  (24)  and put on the new man, which after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

Though he is crucified our old man still lusts after the world, put him off and put on the new man and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

2Co 4:13-18 RV  But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, I believed, and therefore did I speak; we also believe, and therefore also we speak;  (14)  knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also with Jesus, and shall present us with you.  (15)  For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God.  (16)  Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.  (17)  For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;  (18)  while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

We face death daily as our outward man, this physical flesh decays and is dying day by day but our inward man is renewed daily with that water of life welling up from our hearts that brings life eternal.
