Oil and Wine

The Samaritan treating the wounded man is a picture of what Christ does for us and we can do for each other.  The oil is a picture of the understanding of the word of God and the wine is a picture of the Holy Spirit which work together to heal us.

The early and latter rain churches are full of the understanding of the word of God and the Holy Spirit.  The wheat here is the word or teachings of God.

Five wise virgins with oil represents the five-fold ministry with a deeper understanding.  The foolish virgins did not understand and learning (buying the truth) takes time and effort.  I admonish you to seek the Truth and the knowledge of God.

Jesus changing the water into wine is a picture of Christ replacing the old covenant with the new covenant.  The stone pots full of water represents the law of Moses.  Jesus changed that law, taking away the ordinances against us and nailing it to the cross.  The new wine is the Holy Spirit and the new covenant.  We are saved by grace and through faith.

Luk 10:29-37 RV  But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?  (30)  Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, which both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.  (31)  And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.  (32)  And in like manner a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.  (33)  But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion,  (34)  and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine; and he set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.  (35)  And on the morrow he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come back again, will repay thee.  (36)  Which of these three, thinkest thou, proved neighbour unto him that fell among the robbers?  (37)  And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. And Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Joe 2:21-27 RV  Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for the LORD hath done great things.  (22)  Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.  (23)  Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he giveth you the former rain in just measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month.  (24)  And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.  (25)  And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.  (26)  And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.  (27)  And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and there is none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Mat 25:1-13 RV  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  (2)  And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.  (3)  For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them:  (4)  but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  (5)  Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.  (6)  But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him.  (7)  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.  (8)  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out.  (9)  But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.  (10)  And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.  (11)  Afterward come also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.  (12)  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.  (13)  Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.

Joh 2:1-10 RV  And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:  (2)  and Jesus also was bidden, and his disciples, to the marriage.  (3)  And when the wine failed, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.  (4)  And Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.  (5)  His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.  (6)  Now there were six waterpots of stone set there after the Jews’ manner of purifying, containing two or three firkins apiece.  (7)  Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.  (8)  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the ruler of the feast. And they bare it.  (9)  And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and knew not whence it was (but the servants which had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast calleth the bridegroom,  (10)  and saith unto him, Every man setteth on first the good wine; and when men have drunk freely, then that which is worse: thou hast kept the good wine until now.
